Num raro Fevereiro quente, em 2008, fomos passar um fim de semana de relax à zona da Curia, no concelho da Mealhada. Optámos pelo Grande Hotel da Curia e foi uma experiência única e inolvidável.
O hotel tem um charme único com o seu estilo de belle epoque e pitadas de art nouveau.
O hotel é antigo mas está cuidado, nomeadamente nas áreas comuns, apesar de se notar que precisa de alguma atenção a nível de pinturas, renovação dos tapetes e melhoramentos das portas. No entanto estes pormenores dão ainda mais singularidade ao hotel.
Não acedemos nem exploramos a zona de piscina exterior, pois é Fevereiro e apesar de estar uma temperatura amena para a altura do ano, não estava assim tão quente.
A piscina interior é muito pequena, no fim-de-semana encheu apenas com meia dúzia de pessoas e respectivos catraios. O jacuzzi também é insuficiente para tanta gente. Nos dias de semana é bem possível tirar muito mais partido destes equipamentos. Os balneários são simplesmente uma vergonha, uma sala sem cadeiras nem cacifos, exige-se mais de um hotel 4 estrelas. A minha mais que tudo foi fazer uma sessão de massagem no SPA do hotel e diz que foi bom, em compensação eu fui jogar golfe.
Os pequenos almoços foram servidos em duas salas distintas na manhã de sábado, que tinha menos hóspedes, e na manhã de domingo. A duas salas são muito particulares e agradáveis. O pequeno almoço não sendo nada de extraordinário foi bem servido e com produtos frescos e variedade e quantidade muito aceitável.
O quarto que nos foi destinado ainda estava a ser arranjado quando efectuamos o checkin, pelo que prontamente nos foi facultado um outro quarto enorme e bastante bom. A casa-de-banho era fabulosa, enorme, com mármore lustroso e loiças antigas. A decoração do quarto era simples e agradável.
O cartão de visita deste hotel é sem dúvida o salão de estar ou a biblioteca, com lareira, e mobiliário fantástico, com enorme charme e um intenso glamour. Parecia que a qualquer momento iria surgir o Poirot e sentar-se a ler o jornal e a beber uma tisana. E é mesmo isso que apetece ali fazer, sentar a ler um jornal ou um livro enquanto se beberica um Vermut.
Todo o trato da equipa do hotel foi exemplar e cordial, sempre disponíveis e solícitos.
O hotel fica a escassos metros das termas da Curia, assim bem como do jardim e parque que convida a passeios e momentos de relaxamento.
Nas imediações existe ainda um simpático campo de Golfe de 9 buracos, o Curia Golfe, a cerca de 2 minutos de carro.

In a rare hot February, in 2008, we went for a relax weekend to the Curia area, in the Mealhada zone.
We choose the Grande Hotel da Curia and it was a unique and unforgettable experience.
This hotel has a unique charm with its belle epoque style and pinches of art nouveau.
The hotel is vintage but in good shape, namely the common areas, but it shows the need for some attention at the wall paintings, some carpets need renovation and some doors should be improved. Never the less these details give the hotel even more singurality.
We didn't access or explore the external pool area, because it's February and the temperature was nice but it wasn't that warm.
The interior pool is very small, and in the weekend it was full with just a half dozen persons and their children. The Jacuzzi is also insufficient for so many people. In the weekdays it's more likely to enjoy these equipaments. The bath and clothes exchange rooms are simple shameless, a room without chairs, benches or lockers, for a 4 stars hotel more was expected. My beloved one went for a massage session in the hotel SPA and said it was a good one, in compensation I went to play golf.
The breakfasts were served in two different rooms in the saturday morning, when there were less people, and in the sunday morning. Both rooms are very particular and pleasant. The breakfasts were not outstanding, but well served and with fresh daily products, a good and acceptable variety and quantity.
The room that was reserved for us was not yet ready when we did the checkin, so another room was immediately available, quite bigger and quite good. The bathroom was amazing, huge, with shinning marbles and vintage furniture. The whole room decor was simple and pleasant.
The hotel ex libris is without any doubt the salon and library, with it's fireplace and amazing vintage furniture, with it's amazing charm and glamour. It seems that at any moment Poirot will appear and sit to read a newspaper and drink a tisana. Because that's just what it feels like doing, to sit and read a newspaper or some book while slowly drinking a Vermut.
All the hotel staff was exemplar and very nice, always available.
The hotel is very near to the Curia Thermals (just a few meters), and also very near of the gardens and parks that invite to some relaxing moments and walks.
In the nearby there is a nice 9 hole Golf course, the Curia Golfe, just a 2 minutes car ride.
